Avis fuel up front now available throughout europe

26.09.2006, Pre-pay for a full tank of fuel charged at the local pump price – part of the Avis pan- European programme of Inspired Change.

Following its successful launch in the UK, Avis today announces that Fuel Up Front, designed to give customers a convenient and cost efficient refuelling option for when they return their hire car, is now available throughout Europe at airport and downtown locations. This has been available at all Avis UK locations since May, part of the first wave of initiatives from the Avis pan-European programme of Inspired Change.

Murray Hennessy, Chief Executive, Avis Europe, says: “Original feedback from our customers highlighted that it was often stressful and time-consuming having to find a service station and refuel their car before returning it to us. This led to the development of Fuel Up Front, which is aimed at providing customers with a wider choice and clear, more convenient refuelling option.”

“Our customers can now choose to pre-order a full tank of fuel, at the local pump price, when they pick up their car and then return it empty, without worrying about paying a premium for the service. However, if they return the car with the tank full, even after taking the Fuel Up Front option, we will not charge them for the fuel, so they can be assured of an easy, transparent and convenient service.”

Avis launched its Inspired Change programme in spring 2006 following extensive research amongst Avis employees and nearly 13,000 customers across Europe. Inspired Change has introduced a jargon-free Rental Agreement, clearer car groups of small, medium and large, a Fuel Up Front refuelling option and Avis Choice Fleet in the UK. These ideas for change and others were inspired by Avis employees who wish to make life even better and more transparent for their business and leisure customers. It is a long term commitment and a promise to continuously improve and innovate. It is not a one off but part of the ‘We Try Harder’ philosophy.
